Hi folks. This weekend while on assignment for my company I am in the city of Strasbourg France. I have been on assignment since approximately November 2012. During this time I have taken plenty of photos using our little point and shoot and my Samsung Galaxy S3. While those images are fun and some good ones, Lia and I recently purchased a new camera.

New Camera Details: Nikon’s 14.2MP DX-format CMOS Image Sensor delivers beautiful photographs and prints well beyond 20 x 30 inches, and full 1080p HD Cinematic Video with full-time autofocus and sound lets you record cinematic-quality movies in full 1080p HD format (1920 x 1080 pixels). This camera includes 3x 18-55mm Zoom-NIKKOR VR Image Stabilization Lens with legendary NIKKOR optical quality and fast, accurate autofocus for vivid color, striking contrast and crisp detail and VR image stabilization to ensure the sharpest hand-held pictures and movies and a 55-200mm VR Lens, plus we also got a DSLR Bag.

So, I decided to go on a 6-mile adventure the first day and about another 2.5 miles on Sunday. In the end, on Sunday I sat down and watched the mass. needless to say, it has been some time since I have been through a full mass, and many things were quite interesting about the service here in Strasbourg.
The major points of Strasbourg include:
Swans on the River
Bridges
Strasbourg Cathedral
Strasbourg Gare (train Station)
La Petite France
and other random images and things such as Place de la Republique, Place de Kleber, and architecture and streets and people, etc

Having the new camera is fun, but it also goes to prove that the tool does not an instant photographer make. I enjoyed getting out and about as I am in need in keeping up my walking and since my company downgraded me from being able to use the Hilton on my trips, won't get into the drama there, but suffice it to say my walking distance to the University has been altered. This helps me keep on a weekly pace. you have to be in my "Friends circle" on Google+ to see the images, but if you'd like to see them, leave a comment.

Further, I am thinking about turning my blog to require authentication, but we will see if I do that soon or whatever.

Of note, I also attended church in my own faith today. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has a ward here in Strasbourg. It meets at the following address:

100 route du General de Gaulle SCHILTIGHEIM, 67300 FRANCE phone: 33 3-88-18-87-62
All in all this was a good weekend and the weather cooperated.

My hope is that I will be able to do similar this Friday when I go to Paris. Fingers crossed that the weather is good and that I can make it to the Notre Dame in Paris. Next will either be the Eifel Tower or the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe. I have not visited ND and the Arc since 1996 Check back for more Paris images and other interesting observations by me.

  1. My dad says to try using the other auto systems such as the P, S, and I'm not sure what other letters cause I'm not staring at it. The P should give you the ability to mess with the F-stop and auto adjust the rest. Should help. But if you get to Paris in the evening or go in the cathedral again, remember to increase the ISO for light. If you had a tripod I would just say slow the shutter speed but oh well. Also.....I'm hoping I'm "Lia"! lol
